DYCP - Queering Poetry and Performance with Arts Council England

In early 2021, I successfully applied for a £10,000 Developing Your Creative Practice grant from Arts Council England, to work on queering my poetry and performance work, over the course of a year.

The grant allowed me to pay myself to write, which was truly invaluable. I also had mentoring from Caroline Bird, in editing my written work and putting together poem sequences and collections, and from Rommi Smith, in performing my work with confidence and presence.

It was a year that changed my life, and allowed me to make writing a substantial part of my income and career.
