First Dibs with Dibby Theatre

In March 2021, Dibby Theatre selected me as one of five queer writers to take part in the First Dibs programme. We were given a bursary and masterclasses to work towards writing a new piece of theatre.

I wrote my first solo show The Reason for Geese, about time-travel and finding myself, set around the canals of Manchester. I portray all of the characters - geese, swans, a cat, a bee - using my own body and voice. It has been a new challenge for me, and I am so proud of what I have achieved.

I worked with Director Luke Skilbeck, of Milk Presents. I then performed an extract from my show at First Dibs: The Assembly, a showcase event as part of Push Festival at HOME Manchester in November 2021.

From this performance, I was scouted by Superbia (Manchester Pride) to develop and perform my show in full for Turn on Fest 2022.
