Take Ten with Manchester Literature Festival

For the Take Ten project in 2018, I was commissioned through The Writing Squad to write and perform a piece about the joy of reading, for an audience of secondary school pupils.

I wrote ‘On stories and snow’, about how stories have been a constant when my life has changed, and how they have accompanied me on adventures, such as my almost-otherworldly experience of an airport stopover in snowy Moscow, on the way to Beijing.

The book I read in the airport - Origins by Kate Thompson - will always bring me right back to that place and time, and I wanted to celebrate that power.

I performed ‘On stories and snow’ to secondary pupils at the Take Ten event at Manchester Central Library.
