Severine - ‘Trailing Jasmine’ and other poems

Severine is the first print journal that ever published my work! Back in Summer 2016, my poem ‘Trailing Jasmine’ appeared in Issue 4, on the theme of Heroes. The journal is stunning, and its arrival in the post is a very fond memory for me. ‘Trailing Jasmine’ was inspired by my time living in the South of France, as well as loss and hope.

I was then part of Issue 6, on theme of Wild, in Autumn 2018. My poem ‘Dogteeth’ explores my feelings on being born in the Year of the Dog.

Finally, my poem ‘The Mint Lounge, Manchester, December 2018’ was published on the Severine website in early 2021. The website is no longer available, but it was great to share this poem for a while. It tells the story of my first time at the titular club, which was also my first time going out in a suit, which provided some deep queer joy.
