Sídhe Press anthologies: Glisk and Glimmer and To Lay Sun into a Forest

It was wonderful to have my poem ‘Hilbre Island’ published in the anthology Glisk and Glimmer: Poems About Light from Sídhe Press. The poem, which has since appeared in my collection A love the weight of an animal, is about a trip to Hilbre Island - off the coast of The Wirral in North-West England - with my queer walking group and the joy that can be found in friendship and community, as well as in nature. I enjoyed reading at the online launch for the anthology and hearing so many poems from all around the world.

It was a lovely experience, so when they announced a callout for poems for an anthology on grief, To Lay Sun into a Forest, I submitted, and I felt very honoured to be accepted. My poem ‘You didn’t know it would be the last day’ looks at grief for a special place in nature and wildness that is on the verge of being lost, exploring the angles of neurodivergence and mental health.
