Spelt Magazine - ‘Alert’

It had long been a dream of mine to be part of Spelt Magazine, which aims to tackle rural and nature poetry in new ways, so I was delighted when my poem ‘Alert’ was accepted for Issue 09.

‘Alert’ is my first published golden shovel, and uses a line from Carola Luther’s poem ‘Architecture’ as its inspiration. My poem is about dead animals, changes in identity and queerness, and finding a kind of hope and peace.

I had a lovely evening launching the issue online in September 2023.
