Dead and Alive Birds in Our World with Manchester Museum

I was honoured to be selected as one of the artists commissioned, as part of a project facilitated by Dr Clara Dawson, to create new work in response to the upcoming exhibition Dead and Alive Birds at Manchester Museum.

I spent two afternoons with a number of bird specimens from the Museum’s collection, including extinct species, and heard from experts about themes such as colonialism and extinction; religion and extinction; changes in bird activity as a marker of climate change; and ongoing research and conservation projects.

I began creating work combining poetry and zine-making and am looking forward to sharing my completed project alongside the exhibition in 2026.
