Future Hope with Aurelia Magazine and Manchester International Festival

Future Hope was a special series of paid essays about Manchester life, published at Aurelia Magazine in collaboration with Manchester International Festival in 2021.

My essay, ‘Becoming myself in the city’, explores the nearly-ten years I had lived in Manchester at that point, and how my experience changed, through university life, work, and embracing the queer scene. Then there was Covid, and I write about how lockdown led me to spend much more time outdoors on my own, and really get to know my local area.

The essay does touch on struggles with food and body image, so please be aware of that going in. I hope that if you do read it, you find it interesting and uplifting.
