Reclaiming Queer Healthcare zine project, supported by Writerz and Scribez

In 2023, I successfully applied for a grant from Writerz and Scribez to develop a project around queer healthcare and zine-making.

For this project, in 2023-24, I have been creating zines inspired by my queer experiences of healthcare, from PCOS to smear tests, as well as leading workshops in spaces across Manchester. So far, these have included Butchcrafts Altnerative Pride, Queer Roots Alternative Pride, and Sparkle Sanctuary, with at least two further spaces in the works.

It has been an honour to be part of the creation of brilliant zines, as well as so many important and useful conversations and exchanges of knowledge and advice.

Our collection of zines is growing, and I hope to exhibit it or celebrate it with an event at the end of this stage of the project.

In the future, I would love to acquire further funding to continue the project and reach out to more groups of people.
