Divergent Design Course Content for UCIL, University of Manchester
I was very excited to be approached by UCIL - University College for Interdisciplinary Learning - at the University of Manchester to create new course content on zine-making, neurodivergence, and creativity.
UCIL have launched a new course unit available to University of Manchester undergraduate students across disciplines, “On Creativity: Practices and Perspectives”. Within the unit, Module 4, “Divergent Design”, includes content that I created in conjunction with UCIL on the topic of zine-making and neurodivergence.
I created new written course materials and presented a zine-making masterclass to camera, which will be available for students taking the unit to watch online. I also spoke about the history of zines and how I use them as a tool to unlock creativity as a neurodivergent writer and maker.
The zine that I made for my demo, “Geese! Moving through the city” explores my experiences of Manchester through a neurodivergent lens, and I hope that it helps new students learn about and feel at home in the city.
