The Little Things with Beatfreeks

In early 2021, I applied to be a commissioned creative Beatfreeks’ The Little Things project, and was very happy to be selected. This project featured five creatives each making a new piece of work to say thank you to somebody.

I wrote and performed an extended spoken-word piece, ‘Rockpools’, talking about lockdown isolation, and celebrating how quickly my queer communities moved their activities online. On Zoom, we had film groups, quiz nights, and chats, and I can’t imagine what my experience of those months would have been like without them.

It was an honour to be able to thank these groups in my piece, and to perform it at the sharing event.

‘Rockpools’ was also chosen to feature in Beatfreeks’ next Poetry Jam showcase.
