Rebel Geese and Cute Rats with The Writing Squad

It was a joy to lead my workshop “Rebel Geese and Cute Rats: Writing Urban Wildlife” for The Writing Squad. in Summer 2023. As a Graduate of this brilliant writing collective, I was very happy to be commissioned to create and deliver this workshop.

Through writing exercises, games, and lots of laid-back conversations, we discussed ideas around urban wildlife and resilience, noticing things we usually wouldn’t in our daily life, and challenging our preconceived ideas around different creatures, from spiders to squirrels to seagulls.

Urban wildlife is a cornerstone of my creative work, from my “Cory” poetry sequence to my solo show, The Reason for Geese. It is always lovely to share it with others.
